Product Overview

The Speco AES4 is a 10 watt amplified communications speaker with a built-in amplifier, so it needs no separate amp in the signal path. It has a 4" driver behind a soft padded grille in an ABS plastic enclosure, mounts on a swivel bracket that adjusts to all angles, and runs from a 12VDC input. A 10 ft cord with a standard 3.5mm mini-plug is included.

Technical Context

The built-in 10 W amplifier is what separates this from Speco's passive communications speakers such as the CBS4: the AES4 takes a line-level signal and 12VDC power directly, so no external amplifier is needed between the source and the speaker. That reduces the parts count in an intercom or paging run at the cost of needing power at the speaker position.

Installation Notes

The speaker requires a 12VDC supply at its mounting position, unlike a passive speaker that draws from an amplifier. The enclosure measures 5.5" (W) x 4.5" (H) x 2.5" (L) and mounts on a swivel bracket. The supplied cord is 10 ft and terminates in a standard 3.5mm mini-plug.
